Control Your Mind
Guys, suppose you are a student and you know very well that spending hours watching TV is very harmful for your studies, you still watch TV everyday. Your weight is too much, yet you eat food that increases your weight. If this is the case, then get this very clear that you do not have control on your mind. You can achieve any goal only when your mind is under your control and if you are under your mind's control, then just forget about achieving your goal. Whenever a person says that I am the master of my mind, I do only what my mind says. In reality, he is not the master of his mind but a slave of his mind because he does things what his mind tells him to do, he does not do what is right. Such a person is tamed by his mind. Friends, it is very important to know that taming the mind or having a control on the mind is not an easy task.
Today I will tell you two surefire ways to subdue your mind. Believe it, by doing this you can completely subdue your mind. It will not be as simple, but it is not impossible at all. Actually, our mind works in such a way that if you tell it not to do any work, then it will do the same thing again and again. As soon as you will give instructions to your mind that now I am getting fat and I will not eat sweet from tomorrow. From that very time, sweet dish will start revolving in your mind. This mind is fickle, strong, and stubborn, and keeping the mind under control is more difficult than capturing air.
Practice is the first way to control the mind. You have to try again and again to stay away from something. You will not be able to succeed in the first try. Continuous practice will help you to control the mind. The second way to control the mind is detachment. Detachment is the state of mind in which there is no interest for things. Ditachment does not mean that you go into the jungles. The meaning of ditachment is that you are not attached to things. Let's understand this with an example. Suppose you are a student and you have the habit of watching a TV serial everyday. This TV show comes every night at 8:30 pm. You want to get rid of your habit, you try too but you aren't able to do so. To overcome this habit you will have to get detached. You can go out for a walk at that time or you can do some other work and get your detachment from practice.
You can achieve this only when you know that there is no end to longing and greed. By thinking the same, you can avoid some of your habits you want to get rid of.
